Financial Planning
Kent is a Certified Financial Planner® and a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA). Kent provides fee-only planning centered on the setting and attainment of goals and objectives and planning for future needs.
He does not sell any products nor does he manage individual portfolios. Should the need arise, Kent has an extensive network of professionals that he works with on a constant basis to provide the additional services that may be required by clients.
Tax Planning and Preparation
He is an Enrolled Agent, meaning that he is enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service. This allows him to represent clients before the IRS and the Franchise Tax Board. He is a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) and the State Association (CSEA) and local Chapter (Mission Society). Prior to entering private practice, Kent was employed with the Internal Revenue Service. During his career with the IRS, he was a collection representative, an office auditor, a revenue agent, and the Assistant Tax Shelter Coordinator for the San Francisco District.
Kent’s main activity is the preparation of tax returns for individuals, small businesses (including partnerships and corporations), and trusts and estates. Although he is well-versed in tax law, his areas of expertise include employee stock option planning for both non-qualified and incentive stock options, and real estate taxation, including investment analysis, sales of residences and other types of real estate, and tax deferred exchanges under Section 1031. In addition, Kent devotes a significant amount of time helping clients plan for their tax obligations so that they can take advantage of various legal techniques to reduce a pending tax liability.

Kent earned his Masters degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University in 1981 and his Bachelors degree in Accounting from San Jose State University in 1976.
